In 2019, our founder Jonah was surrounded by friends who didn't know how to properly plural moose. Feeling inspired, he took action. He did some research to prove that the plural of moose is moose, and then built a website and made anti-meese pins to spread awareness. Ever since, we've maintained one goal: educate people on the correct plural of moose.
As an organization, we posted social media content, gave out stickers, and staged protests. We worked with JCWYT to build a Discord bot that deletes the word meese and sold anti-meese shirts, stickers, and more anti-meese merch for people who want to spread the word themselves.
In 2025, Moose Not Meese underwent a fundamental values realignment, recognizing that while correct plurals matter, real moose lives matter more. We shifted away from grammatical absolutism to embrace a broader message of love and unity.
